Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive Athens
This is journey that will take you back in time and relive the days of Ancient Greece! You will get to see the all major archaeological sites of Greece during this tour. Upon your arrival in to Athens airport, you will be met by one of our drivers and then transferred to your pre-arranged hotel where you will spend the evening to get some rest so that your ready for the time travelling adventure that awaits you tomorrow.

Day 2 : Athens sightseeing tour
Today you will go to visit one of the oldest cities in the world and see all of its famous sites which will include Ancient Athens and also the Modern-day Athens. Our first stop will be at the center of the city where you will be able to explore – Syntagma square, House of Parliment, the Memorial to the Unknown Soldiers and the National Library. Afterwards we will continue on our way to see the Prime Ministers Residence (Presidential Palace) which is guarded 24/7 by the Evzones and Zappion, the Evzones are infantry guards that wear a very authentic uniform. We will proceed by passing by the roman Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch, we will then make a short stop at the Panathenaic Statium where the first Olympic games took place in 1896 and finally we will arrive in ACROPOLIS where we will explore – Propylae, Temple of Athena Nike, Parthenon, Erechtheion with it s Porch of Maidens. Also in Acropolis is a fascinating museum which we will need to take pleasant short walk that passes by Herodion and Dionysos Theatre in order to explore the NEW ACROPOLIS MUSEUM. At the end of the day you will have an overnight stay in Athen at a pre-arranged hotel.

Day 3 : Cape Sounion tour
Our time travelling adventure will continue with going to Sounion which has been a sacred site since the very first ancient times – the sanctuary of Sounion is first mentioned in the Odyssey. We will need to drive along the scenic coastal road which has a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, we will also be passing through some of Athens most beautiful suburbs such as – Glyfada,Vouliagmeni,Varkazi til eventually we arrive at Cape Sounion. Here is Sounion is where we can find the Temple of Poseidon (god of the sea) which is a real gem that stands on top of the hill overlooking the Aegean Sea. There will be a short climb up the hill so we can reach the Temple of Poseidon and indulge in its marvelous breath taking view of the sky and ocean. (Overnight in Athens).

Day 4 : Full Day Delphi tour
Ancient Delphi is one of the most important parts of our Ancient Greece tour and throughout the day you will understand why. We will Depart from Athens early in the morning to start to make our way to Delphi which is one of the treasures in the lands of Greece. On our route to Delphi we will pass through the beautiful villages of Levadia, Thebes and Arachova – Arachove is widely famous for its bright multi coloured carpets and handcrafts it is only a small village thats located near the parnassos mountain. We will also pass by Castalia Spring til we eventually arrive in Delphi and head off to exlpore the Treasury of the Athenias, Temple of Apollo and Museum of Delphi with its spectacular finds including the bronze Charioteer (one of the only five complete bronze statues from Hellenistic period), the Naxian Sphinx and the Statue of Antinoos. Among the most interesting treasures are fragments of gold and blackened ivory from statues of Artemis (lunch in Delphi). After a full day in delphi we will turn back on the road and start our road trip over to Athens, our route will take us through the cotton fields of Boeotia. (Overnight in Athens).

Day 5 : Athens/Corinth/Epidauros/Nafplion/Mycenae/Olympia
Athens is an amazing destination, there is no where in the world like Athens and no doubtlessly tends to appear on nearly everyones MUST see list! We will go on to depart from Athens and take a drive southwest untill we reach the Corinth Canal which is completed in 1893 (short stop). This canal effectively makes the Peloponnese peninsula an island. Before it was built, ships sailing between the Aegean and Adriatic had to circumnavigate the Peloponnese adding about 185 miles to their journey. Then journey then continue to Epidauros and to take a visit to the well preserved Ancient Theatre of Epidauros. The theatre has amazing acoustics and if you climb to the top you can hear the conversation of the people standing below, even to a whisper! After we will proceed to the town of Nafplion where we will have a short photo stop to make sure you capture the magnificent surrounding for keep forever in your memory, our drive will take us on to Mycenae – Here you will be given some free time so you can have a look around all of Mycenae’s historical artifacts. As the day starts to come to an end we will depart from Mycenae and make our way to our new destination of Olympia  as its here you will have an overnight stay.

Day 6 : Olympia/Delphi
Todays plan is to go and discover the amazing archeological sites of Olympia such as The Temple of Zeus, The Temple of Hera, Ancient Stadium and the Archeology museum. Once you have soaked in all of Olympias secrets we will make our departure for Delphi by driving through Patras (the very ancient city of the mythical Patreus) and cross the Corinthian Bay via new bridge (the longest bridge in Europe) from Rio to Antirion. As we arrive in Delphi we will pass by the very picturesque towns of Nafpaktos and Itea. The night will be spent at a hotel in Delphi where you will also have a scrumptious greek style dinner.

Day 7 : Delphi/Kalambaka
In the morning there will be the opportunity to visit the archeological sites of Delphi which are part of the most important treasures to be found in Greece. Our visits in Delphi will be to The Temple of Apollo, Treasury of the Athenians and then the astounding Delphi museum (explore spectacular bronze Charioteer, Naxion Sphinx and The Statue of Antinoss). As the day for us ends it will be time to depart from Delphi and make our journey over to Kalambaka for an overnight stay as im sure you are in need of a good rest after such a busy few days.

Day 8 : Meteora/Thessaloniki
Today you will go to visit the breathtaking Byzantine Monasteries of Meteora, these structures really give you an idea about what was Byzantine art. The monasteries are situated on top of very high rock towers that took there unusual formation through natural causes – it is also know that these monasteries are a habitat for christian monks still to this day. After you have been shunned by the awesome view from the top of the monasteries it will be time to depart from Kalambaka and go on to visit the Archeological Park of Dion – A half swamp, half ancient city thats located in a watery wonderland,but take a stoll through the woods and you will be able to see the marvellous ancient ruins. In the same area is the grand Mount Olympus which is the highest mountain in Greece thats situated on the border between Thessaly and Macedonia.(100 km away from Thessaloniki). As the tour ends we will leave this area and continue on our journey over to see Thessaloniki where you will have dinner and of course an overnight stay.

Day 9 : Veria/Naoussa/Edessa/Pella/Thessaloniki
Your schedule for today is to visit the very sacred Macedonian town that can be found lying at the foot of Mount Olympus. The first stop is at Veria(Biblical Beroea) for see the Saint Paul Bema and take a stroll around colourful market area – perfect chance to do some gift shopping for take back home. After we continue to Naoussa which is famous for its parks (Municipal Park, Park of Saint Nicholas e.t.c) and also for been ski resort. Naoussa is a gorgeous picturesque fishing village in the North of the island of Paros and has also many churches to visit. You can also uncover the ruins of Aristotles scholl which was found 2 km away from the contemporary Naoussa and Edessa. Then our adventure will take us over to the city Pella – Was once the capital of Alexander the Great Macedonian kingdom and whilst here we will go to visit the museum to see what fascinating artifacts we can discover. After the tour its a drive back to Thessaloniki for an overnight stay.

Day 10 : Thessaloniki
As you awake in Thessaloniki it time to get out and about and do some exploring. Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece, we will visit its most amazing monuments, museums and most characteristic churches of the Christian world. The Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki was awarded the Council of Europe Museum Prize. The White Tower, The Archaeological Museum, The Olympic museum, The Greek agora can be found lying between the other main tourist attractions. You will then have the rest of the day free for your own lesiure. Here are some ideas for you about what else there is to do in Thessaloniki, Shopping –  It is a leading shopping destination within its region you will be able to find anything from authentic antiques to modern day purchases, Take a nice evening walk along the seaside and watch the sunset over the coast, Try some authenthic Greek food and no better way then to taste ‘Street Food’ as Thessaloniki is regarded also to be the culinary capital, or if you want to be a night owl then why not head to one of the many bars in the area or better yet try the experience of ‘Bouzoukia’ – Live greek bars where alot of famous greek musicians perfom. (dinner and overnight stay at hotel in Thessaloniki).

Day 11 : Vergina/Thermopylae/Athens

Today we will take you to visit Vergina for explore around the museum where we can see the many findings from the tomb of King Philip II (Alexanders father) and also many other unique archeological heritages. After the visit to the museum it will draw our time together to an end but not before we drive you back to Athens via the route Thessaly, Lamia, Thermopylae where on the way you will see the Leonidas Monument  – He was a spartan warrior and died an heroic death during the battle of Thermopylae. Our route will also take us through the area of Thebe til we eventually arrive back in Athens. (Overnight in Athens).

Day 12 : Departure
So sadly your final day of your time travelling adventure around Ancient Greece has now come almost to an end. We will arrange a transfer service to come and pick you up from your hotel to take you to the airport for your flight (transfer will coincide with flight schedule).
