In the morning we will drive to Old Ankara, with our first visit been to The Anatolian Civilization Museum. It is strongly opinionated in a positive manner that people should visit this collection of exhibits before travelling anywhere else in Turkey. The Anatolian Civilization Museum is displaying numerous remnants from the Stone Age, Neolithic Age, Hattis, Hittites, Urartians, Phrygians and many other civilizations. The museum is housed in a charming building which is a restored covered market dating right the way back to the 15th Century, the museum is easily accessible from the centre of town. The collections place an unusual emphasis on the earlier Anatolia’s occupiers starting with an interesting exhibit of finds from the Catal Huyuk site which was often described as the earliest known human commuinity in the world. Other highlights include a collection of tablets with the translations of which remind you how little some things in the world have changed over the millenia. After that we head over to go to Citadel of Ankara and also the Mausoleum of Ataturk, this was the burial place of the national hero who founded modern Republic of Turkey. You will also be given free time throughout the day to relax and enjoy some cooling refreshments from one of the local cafe bars, and also a spot of lunch. As the tour comes to the end you will then be transferred back to your starting point.
Your time with us has now come to an end and we trust that your time with us discovering and exploring some of Ankara’s hidden treasures has been everything that you wanted and more, we would also like to wish you a pleasant journey home and shall look forward to seeing you again on one of our many other time travelling packages.
