You can be picked up from Cesme Harbor, Izmir Port, Izmır Airport, Cesme Hotels, or even the Cesme cruise ship port. Your Cesme guide will hold up a sign with your name on it so you can easily find your correct tour bus. We will start our tour with a visit to Cesme Castle. The Genoese fortress whose dramatic walls dominate the town centre, the castle was built back in 1508 and went on to be repaired by Sultan Beyazıt (son of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror) to defend the coast from attack by pirates. Later, the Rhodes-based Knights of St John of Jerusalem also made use of it. The battlements offer excellent views of Çeşme, and it’s good to walk around inside Under arches, up and down steps and through the towers with exhibits on subjects including the area’s naval history. We will also go to see the Caravanserai which was built by Suleiman the Magnificent in 1528. Two-storey Caravanserai belongs Ottoman period and now continues to serve as a hotel. The most beautiful historical sites in Cesme Fountains.(Cesme mean is Fountain) Anonim Cesme and Kaymakam Cesme most famous ones, aegean architecture fountains. These fountains are part of the centuries remains defiantly intact, some of which have reached up to the present day thanks to restorations. During the day you will be given approx 1 hour free lesiure time so you can take a stroll around and fill up your camera or use the time to relax and grab some refreshments from a nearby cafe. You can taste the local flavors of cute restaurants and cafes.
After your lunch break we are going to explore The ancient city of Erythrai. Cesme is a port of the ancient city Erythrai, which was formerly known as Cyssus back in ancient times. It was an important settlement area in the 6th century BC. The Erythrai Ancient City, excavated in Cesme-Ildiri composes of a Castle, Caravanserai and many fountains from the Ottoman Period, as well as other examples of civil architecture. Today the remains of the Acropolis can still be seen on top of the hill which is in the city centre. Small statuettes offered to the Temple of Athena Pallas were found during the excavations in the Acropolis, and one of the most important finds was the statue of a woman belonging to Archaic Age. which can be found on display at the Izmir Museum of Archaeology. Afterwards we will then go to the very beautiful Ilica Beach that is Approximately 2 km long with fine white sands makes it one of best beaches in the world and on your visit you will understand exactly why that is. As the tour comes to an end you will then be driven back to your starting point.
