You will be picked up from any of the Antalya hotels, Antalya Marina, or the cruise ship port in Antalya. Your Antalya tour guide will hold up a sign with your name. The Kekova Island-Simena Castle-Myra and St. Nicholas tour will take approximately 8/9 hours, and afterward, you will be driven back to your Antalya hotel, Antalya Marina, Antalya airport, or Antalya harbor in Turkey.
Pick-up times will be provided before the tour date according to your location. The regular version of the tour does not include a visit to Simena Castle. Simena Castle will be seen from the sea.
In the morning, your tour guide will take you to Demre, about a 1 hour and 20 minutes drive from Antalya. Our first stop is the Church of Saint Nicholas in Demre. At the entrance, there is a rather incongruous statue of the Saint in the persona of Santa Claus, complete with a sack of presents and a mob of children. The tomb of St. Nicholas, or Santa Claus, is housed in a well-preserved 4th-century Byzantine Basilica. The Saint, better known to Turks as Noel Baba, had his bones taken to Bari in Italy in 1087 by thieves. Today, the burial chapel in the basilica houses his simple marble sarcophagus in a small niche, with St. Nicholas pictured on the wall above. Every 6th December, the saint's birthday, is celebrated with a three-day festival and symposium.
After the St. Nicholas Basilica, we will drive to Myra Ancient Site, where the remains naturally fall into three distinct zones. The first, on the southwest, includes the theatre, the so-called sea necropolis, and the area occupied by the agora. The second, in the North, covers the acropolis, its buildings, and its walls. The third, on the Southeast, is the river necropolis and channel that supplied Myra with water. The theatre of Myra was destroyed by an earthquake in AD 141, and you'll see the Painted Tomb, one of the most remarkable in Lycia, with traces of yellow, red, blue, and purple paint.
After lunch, we will drive to Ucagiz port for Kekova and Simena. A popular day excursion from Ucagiz is the boat trip to Kekova, a partially submerged Lycian city. The boat glides over the remains of buildings, stairs, and pavements visible under the water. Just near Kekova, several islets show signs of being used as sources of stone by ancient builders.
When the tour concludes, your Kekova, Simena, Myra, and St. Nicholas tour guide will return you to your pick-up point. You have the option for a Private Kekova, Simena, and Myra and St. Nicholas Tour, where you can be picked up by your Antalya Tour guide at your convenience, or a Kekova, Simena, and Myra, and St. Nicholas Group tour, where your Antalya Tour guide will pick you up at approximately 08:00/09:00 hours for your tour from Antalya.
