Depart for visiting the most important sites of Patmos island. We will visit the Cave of Apocalypse where St.John lived for 2 years during his writing of the Apocalypse. He received his revelation in this cave and wrote the last book of the New Testament. Then proceed to the Monastery of St.john. The monastery located at top of the hill and consist of interconnecting courtyards, chapels, stairways, arcades, galleries and roof terrace.The library of the monastery was found by Hosios Christodoulos. Today the library has 900 manuscripts.The museum has some world-class exhibits (including documents, silverwork and textiles) covering more than millennium. There are old writings dating back as far as 1073, icons and religious paintings including an original El Greco.
After a short walk into the old town, we will arrive to Patmian house from the 18th century. Next to it, visit the active Nun’s Monastery. You will have free time for photo and a stroll in the narrow streets of the old town. After lunch drive back to the port via passing Gricou Bay through scenic coastal road. During the leisurely drive a complete image can form on how the beautiful inlets and tranquil beaches appeal to the many guests that visit Patmos. The last site is the Bay of Lambi which is famous for it’s rare multicoloured pebbles. The name Lambi means “shining” as the sun reflects against the beautiful stones and the crystal waters of the bay. Return to Patmos port.
