Our guided tour will start with a panaromic drive through the New Town by deluxe motor coaches. We will pass the Mandraki port,the post office,town hall and Evangelismis church and arrive to Monte Smith Hill where we will enjoy the spectacular view of the Aegean sea and Rhodes town. Drive to the ancient Rhodes Acropolis dedicated to Zeus Polieus, Athena Polias and Pythian Apollo. Past the 2nd century ancient Stadium and theatre. Then continue to the D’ Amboise Gate of the Medieval City to visit the Palace of the Grand Masters of the knights of Rhodes which was built in the 14 th century by the knights of St. John of Jerusalem. It was destroyed by the explosion in 1856 and restorated between 1937-1940 under the supervision of Iralian architect Vittorio Merturino. In spite of the restoration, “The street of the Knights” has remained untouched by the passage of 500 years since it was built in the 14 th century.
The excursion continues with one-hour scenic drive along the East Coast of the Island, which passes through different landscapes and many villages. We will enjoy the visit to a pottery factory at the village of Archangelos. Further impressive site is Lindos which is most attractive village of Rhodes. You will visit the Acropolis which is worth to climb but the coastal scenery around the site is wonderful. See the remnants including Great Stoa, Temple of Athena Lindia from 4th century, ancient theatre and the afew remains of the temple of Dionysus. Then we will visit the picturesque medieval village and enjoy the houses with their traditional architecture, decorated floors dating back to the 15th and 16th century. Finally we will visit the 15th century medieval church dedicated to the Virgin Mary (guiding inside the church is not allowed).
