You can be picked up from either an Alanya Hotel, Alanya Marina, or the Alanya cruise ship port where your Alanya tour guide will hold up a sign with your name. This ensures you can easily find your way through the crowd to the correct transfer service. The tour will last approximately 6 hours, and afterward, you will be driven back to the same point where you were met in the morning.
Alanya, dating back to the 2nd century BC, was once the center of the slave market, the city of Cilicia, a pirate bed, and the maritime center of the Seljuks. It is known that Mark Anthony gave Alanya to Cleopatra as a 'wedding gift.' This Mediterranean city is crowned by the Castle of Alanya, where our exploration begins. The castle, a fantastic landmark and the main focal point of the city dates back to the 13th century, built on Byzantine fortifications. Inside the castle, we'll discover a Byzantine Monastery, a Mosque, a Caravanserai, and numerous cisterns. With high walls, 140 towers, 400 cisterns, and majestic doors, the castle is a magnificent sight. Just below the castle is the Red Tower, situated on the harbor frontline. Kale Kapisi is one of the best examples of a Seljuk building, constructed in 1231. Alanya Old City (Tophane) boasts massive stone walls, meandering streets, and old houses close together, overshadowing narrow cobblestone lanes.
After taking in the sights, your tour guide will give you approximately one hour of free time to wander at your leisure, grab some refreshments, and sit beside the sea while capturing Alanya's beautiful scenery.
Following lunch, we'll visit the Alanya Archaeological Museum, housing artifacts from Anatolian civilizations and archaeological monuments from the region. The museum is divided into sections for archaeology, ethnography, and an exhibition of Heracles. We'll then explore other special sites such as the Seljuk Dockyard, started in 1227 and completed within just 12 months, Damlatas Cave – used for the treatment of respiratory ailments due to its high humidity, and Cleopatra Beach – named after the legendary queen who swam there daily. Cleopatra's Beach features fine soft sand and crystal-clear water.
