You can be picked up from Canakkale Airport, Canakkale Hotel, Canakkale Marina, or even the Canakkale cruise ship port. Your Canakkale tour guide will hold up a sign with your name on it so you can easily find your way to the correct tour bus. Your Canakkale tour will take approximately 7 hours, and afterward, we will drive you back to your Canakkale hotel, Canakkale Marina, Canakkale airport, or Canakkale harbor in Turkey.
Our tour will begin with a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Canakkale. Canakkale has a fantastic archaeological museum with many objects distributed in 5 different halls, displaying archaeological items from Troy, Dardanos, Assos, and Bozcaada with mythological figures that were discovered during excavations near Biga and Can. Following our visit to the Archaeological Museum of Canakkale, we will proceed to The Naval Museum in Cimenlik Park, a first-class military museum with different exhibition areas spread over the grounds of the park. Next to the Naval Museum is a replica of the 365-ton Ottoman minelayer Nusrat, famed for saving the day against invading British warships during the sea offensive. After the war, the underappreciated Nusrat was used as a lowly freight carrier and finally capsized in April 1990.
Once you have taken in the sights and sounds that surround you, your tour guide will give you approximately one hour of free time so you can take a stroll at your leisure or relax and have some refreshments in the Historical Mirror Bazaar (Shopping and lunch break). The following lunchtime, we will walk along the historical Yali streets, also known as the 'Lower Market' of the historical shopping area. Shops and homes here have been restored to their original architecture. The Clock Tower, one of the major symbols of the city, was built back in 1897 by Emili Vitali, an Italian tradesman and honorary consul of the time. There is a clock face on all four sides of the tower, built from local Ayvalik stone. The square-shaped tower narrows slightly as it rises. A public fountain beneath the tower, built in 1889 by a wealthy Jewish resident of the town named Halyo, adds to the historical charm. The Clock Tower now acts as one of the symbols of Canakkale. Vitalis, who died in Nice, France, wanted a water system and a clock tower to be built in Canakkale with his wealth amounting to 10,000 French gold pieces.
Then, we will visit to see The Trojan Horse replica. The Trojan Horse is a tale from the Trojan War, where, after a fruitless 10-year siege, the Greeks constructed a huge wooden horse and hid a large selection of men inside. The Greeks pretended to sail away but were actually in hiding nearby, and the Trojans pulled the horse into their city as a victory trophy. That night, the Greek forces crept out of the horse and opened the gates for the rest of the Greek army, decisively ending the war.
After you have taken in the sights, you will be given approximately one hour of free time to stroll at your leisure or relax and have some refreshments in the cafe nearby. When the tour has finished, you will then be driven back to your drop-off points.
