This full day tour starts with a morning pick up service which shall be given to you upon time of booking, also your pick up can be from various points such as from Piraeus Harbour – Athens Airport and also your hotel depending upon which tour you wish to book either private or as a regular group tour. You will also receive an Athens Travel guide book, Athens City Map from your professional English speaking licensed Athens Tour Guide.

To visit Athens Famous Panathenaic Stadium we will spend around 20 Minutes.

Once all guests have been collected the tour shall begin with the first point of call to be the Panathenaic Stadium, this stadium is the only one in the world that has been made completely from marble and is just as popular to visit as is the Acropolis as it’s a very significant monument not only for just Athens but for the whole of Greece, and was built during the 4th century B.C. and of course since that time it has seen and undergone many changes but it was in the late 19th century that architects put it back to its final form. This stadium was used by nude male athletes that would compete in various track events and also championships throughout the year, the audience capacity is believed to be of 50,000 people so you can just imagine how busy it would be but also as you explore around you will still get that ambience of the crowds that once was.

To visit Athens Acropolis – Monumental Gateway – Parthenon – Erechteion will take about 2 hours

Moving onwards with the tour will take you over to see the huge Parthenon which is of course the number 1 attraction of Athens, people from all walks of life come to Athens just to see this magical site as a visit to Athens would not be the same without visiting here. As we reach Parthenon we will take a walk up the hill where along the way you can see the Temple of Athena Nike, it was here that Athena was worshipped as the goddess who stands by the Athenians in the time of war and this temple still stands in a great condition. Straight after the Temple you will pass through the grand Propylae which in the English language means ‘Monumental Gateway’, this amazing well-kept propylae was created back in 437-432 B.C and also offers great views before you enter through it.Moving on you will come to the world-famous Parthenon, it can be seen from any angle you stand in Athens and shines down to the city below the same as the sun shines in the sky. This Temple was built as a dedication to Athena and is absolutely incredible – it makes the most perfect photograph to take back home as a reminder! Just next to the Parthenon is a smaller building called Erechtheion and just beside here is known by legends that the very first olive trees were grown by when Athena threw the seeds to the ground.

To visit Athens Ancient Roman Agora, Meat & Fish Market will take us around 2 hours

After spending time at the Parthenon it’s time to take the tour forward by taking a stroll over to the Roman Agora which is also known as Ancient Agora, this place was the political and also social heart of Athens. You will have the opportunity to explore the ruins laid around here but also what makes it come to life more will be great stories your guide will tell you along the way. Inside the Agora you will come across the Hephaestus Temple or as some may say Theseion which is still commonly used, it has been said that this temple was a dedication and is one of the best preserved in all of Athens. To mix up the tour today we will head to explore the famous Fish and Meat Market here in Athens, as you can imagine with been a market it does get very hectic but the array of colours is amazing, here you can do some souvenir shopping or even just to enjoy some food samples such as olives, spices, cheese and many other deli treats along the way. This market is still in some ways keeping the historical traditions by having hanging carcasses from lights, but also been able to watch the locals to cut and clean the meats before selling on to customers.

Visiting Time around Syntagma Square – Parliament Building -Change of guards– Athens Akademi – Athens National Library & Athens University will us take about 2 hours

Once you have fully explored the Panathenaic Stadium its back on the bus as we head to our next stop which is to the bustling Syntagma Square, this square was named after the constitution that the first king of Greece Otto was obliged to grant after a military uprising in the year 1843. We can also see the Parliament Building where holds the memorial of the unknown solider but this memorial is guarded 24/7 by Evzones which if we can catch on time when the Evzones change over it truly is magnificent to see especially as they still wear the old dated uniform, just near to here is also two stairways but also an elevator that shall lead you to the Syntagma Metro Station and in all honesty it really is a beautiful created metro station with its very own museum that holds various artefacts that were found when constructing the station. The end of the day is soon approaching which only means one thing which is our last stop of the day and that will be to discover the Akademi, library and also the university now all three of these buildings are side by side which is easy for you to visit. Firstly, is the Akademi now the interesting thing about this is that it was actually constructed by a Danish architect but was financed by a Greek and what a beautiful building it is with astonishing statues of Apollo, Athena and also of Socrates.Located just next door is the Athens University that was founded in the year of 1837, the interior and exterior of this building contains many wall paintings of science but also the rebirth of arts, your camera and eyes will be busy capturing all the amazing works. Last exploration of the day is to Athens National Library which is a treasure for many reasons and that’s not only for the architecture but also for what’s held inside, over 5,000 manuscripts dated way back from the 9th – 19th century but also has a wide range of very important historical documents / archives that must be kept preserved so that in years to come they will still be visible for be seen, without a doubt that in this library you will get lost in all its culture / history but also the legendary stories that were made by the ancient Greeks.
At the end of the tour your guide will then drop you back off to your allocated drop off points where you will be able to spend the rest of the day relaxing and also reviewing your day with us.
