Tour Code: TDPKU54 | Private Tours | Duration: 7 hours | Departure: Every Day all year round

Highlights: Virgin Mary’s House – Ancient city of Ephesus – Ephesus Museum – Temple Of Artemis (Diana) – Mosque of Isa Bey

itinerary

We will begin our full-day Ephesus tour by visiting the Virgin Mary’s House. Your tour guide will share insights into the history of the house where the Virgin Mary spent her last years with St. John and lived until her Assumption. A pilgrimage site for Christians, the Virgin Mary’s House has remarkable energy and serves as an ideal place to say your prayers and leave your wishes, having been visited by various popes over time.

Moving on to the Ancient City of Ephesus, you will witness one of the most magnificent excavations in the world. Explore historical artifacts such as the Odeon, The Fountain of Trajan, The Terraces of Apartment Houses, the stream baths of Scholastika, the Temple of Hadrian, and the impressive Celsus Library adorned with columns and statues. Don't miss the grand theater, where Saint Paul preached, and which is the largest theater in antiquity with a capacity of 24,000 seats. After taking in the sights, your Ephesus tour guide will provide approximately one hour of free time for you to stroll at your leisure or relax in a cafe.

Our next stop of the day will be the Ephesus Museum, which houses significant excavations from Ephesus, St. Jean Church, Artemision, Belevi Grave Memorial, and other nearby ruins. The museum features important works from Ephesus and Anatolian archaeology, with standout pieces such as the Dolphin on the Eros, the Statue of an Egyptian Priest, and the Statue of an Eros Head.

The Temple of Artemis (Diana), completed 550 years before Christ, was entirely built of marble and is considered one of the seven wonders of the world. Today, only the ruins of the Temple of Artemis remain. Our final stop will be the Mosque of Isa Bey, a 14th-century architectural marvel that also served as a caravanserai.

When the tour concludes, your Ephesus tour guide will return you to your pick-up point.
