This daily tour from Antalya, the Perge and Aspendos Half Day Tour, begins with your tour guide taking you to the Perge Ancient Site. Located 16 km from Antalya, the extensive remains of ancient Perge offer a glimpse into the life of this prosperous town with over 100,000 inhabitants. The Perge Stadium, which seated 12,000 spectators, includes a wall at the far end meant to protect attendees during wild beast fights. Notable structures in Perge include a Theater featuring finely rendered reliefs of Dionysus, a Roman gate leading to a large Agora, Hellenistic Towers, and a Roman Public Bath dating back to the 3rd century AD.
After visiting the Perge Ancient Site, we will drive to the Aspendos Ancient Site, home to the most perfectly preserved Roman theater with an estimated capacity of 15,000. The theater, virtually unchanged since its construction, is a significant monument. Aspendos also features an impressive Aqueduct, a remarkable engineering feat bringing water from the Isaurian Mountains. Following Aspendos, we'll drive to the Seljuk Bridge over the Koprucay (Eurymedon), dating from the 13th century AD and still in use. The bridge replaced a 2nd-century Roman bridge, the ruins of which can be seen in the river a few meters to the North. A tentative reconstruction of the Roman bridge, with a central span 9m above the water, suggests that large ships could have passed underneath it on their way to the docks.
When the tour concludes, your Perge-Aspendos Tour guide will return you to your pick-up point.
