You shall be picked up from Izmir airport, Izmir Hotel, Izmir Marina, or Izmir cruise ship port. Your Izmir tour guide will be holding up a sign with your name on it so you can easily find your arranged tour guide and transfer service. This Izmir tour will take approximately 7 hours, and afterward, we will drive you back to your Izmir hotel, Izmir Marina, Izmir airport, or Izmir harbor in Turkey.
In the Full Day Izmir Tour, we will drive to Izmir city center, traditionally the birthplace of Homer, who was honored here in Classical times in the Homereium. This city used to be known by the name Smyrna but is now known as Izmir, and this very city survived the catastrophes that befell the region. In our Izmir Sight-seeing Tour, the first stop will be just above the city at Mt. Pagus, and the most enduring of Alexander’s legacies, the Kadifekale Castle. This castle was built in the 4th century BCE, and from Kadifekale, there is an excellent view across the harbor to Karsiyaka. To the west, you can see the arena where St. Polycarp was martyred, and the Agora that sits at the foot of the hill. Then we will drive over to Agora, the city alley, marketplace, and shopping place. The Agora was excavated by German and Turkish archaeologists between 1932 and 1941. After the Agora, we will drive to Tepekule (old Izmir), the place where Izmir was initially settled, located in the northeast parts of Izmir Bay. The excavations at Tepekule are in process and under the sponsorship of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce. Since 3000 BC onwards, this place has witnessed the presence of various civilizations and conquerors. There are many findings from Troy, Yutan, and Hittite civilizations within this area too. We will also take a drive to the Izmir Archaeological Museum, arranged to cater to all requirements with display halls, laboratories, and storage rooms, where you can find over 1500 pieces on display inside the building and garden. Archaeological heritage belonging to the antique cities of Iasos, Candarli (Pitane), Bergama, Bayrakli (old Izmir), and Myrina.
After you have taken in the sights on your Izmir Tour, your Izmir tour guide will give you approximately one hour of free time to stroll at your leisure or relax and have some refreshments in Konak and Karsiyaka. When the tour has finished, your Izmir Tour guide will return you to your pick-up point. You can take a Private Izmir Tour where you can be picked up by your Izmir Tour guide at your convenience, where your Izmir Tour guide will pick you up at approximately 08:00 hours for your Izmir tour.
